For the sixth straight year, the Webster University women’s volleyball team has been awarded the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The team qualified for the 2013 Award by maintaining a cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.48 for the 2013-2014 academic year.

The Gorloks had a successful year on the court as well, making their third straight NCAA III Championships appearance in 2013, after winning a third straight St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship. Webster was one of only 126 — out of over 400 NCAA III volleyball programs — to receive the award for 2013.

The volleyball team is the fifth Webster team awarded academic honors this summer by national associations, following the golf, men’s and women’s track, and women’s tennis teams. Three men’s basketball team members were also named to the NABC national Honors Court.

The volleyball Gorloks are coached by Merry Graf, who will begin her 14th season this fall, having served also as interim athletic director in 2013-14. Graf is a four-time SLIAC Coach of the Year.
