Snapshot: Winners of Centre Francophone French Essay Contest

French Essay Contest Winners

The Centre Francophone’s French Essay Contest drew 148 students from St. Louis high schools, including winners in the Heritage Category from Togo and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

On Friday, May 23, prizes were awarded to the winners of the French Essay Contest hosted by the Centre Francophone at Webster University.

The awards ceremony took place at the Alliance Française in St Louis, where Lionel Cuillé, the Jane and Bruce Robert Endowed Chair in French and Francophone Studies, issued prizes to Elvire Edorh, of Togo, and Benjamin Tshibanda, of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Both are students at Ritenour High School and were accompanied by their teacher, Kristen Nepute.

These students were the winners in the special “Heritage Student” category created by the Centre Francophone, recognizing the best essays written by Francophone students. In total, 148 students from various St Louis High Schools registered for the contest.
