Change to Webster Tuition Remission Policy Lowers Taxable Impact

| May 29, 2014

To all employees eligible for tuition remission benefits at Webster University:

Webster University has consistently maintained a generous tuition remission policy for employees and their dependents. Effective Summer 2014, senior management approved the use of the lowest published tuition rates for part-time graduate and undergraduate students in this program which will therefore lower the taxable impact of tuition dollars included in the compensation of the Webster employee. This will impact any Webster employee for which tuition remission is a taxable benefit per IRS guidelines.

For those Webster employees who use this benefit without tax consequences per IRS guidelines, this policy change will have no impact. Please refer to the Tuition Remission application [PDF] for further insight on these guidelines and to your tuition statement for specific rates.

Webster University was honored as a  “Great College to Work for” the sixth consecutive year by The Chronicle of Higher Education and it is updates to benefits like this that continues to stand out in our effort to provide competitive and comprehensive benefit programs for our employees.
