St. Louis Commencement on NBC Nightly News

Set your DVR or be sure to catch NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams Thursday, May 29, at 5:30 p.m. CDT, when Webster’s St. Louis commencement ceremony at The Muny is expected to be included in the show’s annual commencement round-up story featuring universities across the country.

An NBC reporter interviewed students and captured footage on a beautiful May 10 day for Webster’s ceremony in Forest Park. The “We are the Class of 2014” chant from the graduates was also captured by NBC cameras.

Gunderson Profiled as CFO Award Winner

This spring the St. Louis Business Journal and its “CFO Awards” named Greg Gunderson, Webster University’s chief financial officer as CFO of the Year in the “Large Nonprofit” category. Read about why Gunderson made the list in this St. Louis Business Journal profile from the May 16 issue, which is now available online.

The article invites people to “look around the Webster campus, where he has overseen the installation of new landscaping and a sprinkler system while cutting the maintenance budget by 15 percent to $400,000.” It also notes that Webster’s “$119 million endowment performed in the top 25 percent in the last two years, with a 22 percent return last year, according to Commonfund.”

Rishe on CBS Morning News

Patrick Rishe, professor of economics in the George Herbert Walker School of Business & Technology, appeared on CBS morning news to discuss U.S. Soccer and the business of soccer in advance of next month’s World Cup in Brazil.

Also in soccer-related coverage, Rishe was quoted at KMOX-AM radio on the economics of three proposed youth sports complexes that could be coming to St. Louis County.
