Graduate candidates from Webster University’s Great Lakes Naval Base (Illinois) campus location were honored as part of the base-wide Naval Station Great Lakes combined college graduation ceremony held May 9. Commanding officer for Naval Station Great Lakes Base, Capt. William Bulis and the Director of Navy Voluntary Education, Ernie D’Antonio spoke at the ceremony.

Jim Meadows, director of operations for the Webster University’s Office of Military Affairs (OMA), attended the ceremony. Webster’s Midwest regional director Aaron Williams, senior director David Ramey, Capt. Bulis and D’Antonio also met with Meadows to discuss Webster University’s history of providing education to military members for 40 years, beginning just south of the Naval Station Great Lakes at Fort Sheridan, Illinois.

“Our students very much enjoyed the visit of our regional director and OMA director of operations,” said Ramey. “The setting was perfect and the weather held out for an extraordinary day of celebration. This is a day they will always remember: the achievement of their graduate educational goals.”

Naval Station Great Lakes, located 40 miles north of Chicago, is the largest military installation in Illinois and the largest training station in the Navy, and host to the Navy’s only Recruit Training Command.
