[Updated with #1 Ranking] Baseball Gorloks Finish Undefeated Conference Season, Perfect 26-0 in SLIAC

The #2-ranked Webster University baseball team finished the 2014 conference schedule with a perfect 26-0 record.

Webster University’s baseball team has completed a perfect conference season, finishing the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with an undefeated record of 26-0.

The #2 ranked [UPDATE: The latest d3baseball poll has Webster ranked #1 for the first time] Gorloks wrapped up the conference schedule May 4 by defeating Fontbonne University, 14-2, on Senior Night at GCS Ballpark. The Gorloks set a record for conference wins in a season, in the first year the SLIAC schedule was expanded to 27 games. (Webster only played 26 SLIAC contests because of the cancellation of a game with Eureka College.)

Webster set the previous record for wins in the SLIAC in a season in 2009, when the Gorloks went 24-0.

For 2014, the Gorloks are 34-5 overall on the season, and they have received 10 Player of the Week awards for seven different players. They will face Fontbonne again when SLIAC tournament play opens May 8.
