Coming off a 5-0 week, and having extended its winning streak to 11 games (now 13), the Webster University baseball team climbed the national rankings to number three in both the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and d3baseball.com polls. The Gorloks are now 17-3 overall.

The Gorloks swept a doubleheader at Blackburn College, 9-1 and 2-0, the swept a three-game series at Iowa Wesleyan to improve to 9-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while holding onto first place.

Webster jumped up three spots in the ABCA poll, from sixth last week.  The Gorloks took one step up in the d3baseball.com poll, after holding the fourth spot last week. The baseball team’s ranking is believed to be the highest any Webster NCAA team has been ranked nationally.

This comes after two team members were among the three Webster University students named SLIAC Players of the Week in their respective sports. Sophomore Max Morohashi of Encino, Calif., was named the Diamond Sports Hitter of the Week, while freshman C.J. Lee of Aurora, Ill., was the Diamond Sports Pitcher of the Week.

Pack the House To Support the Gorloks

Webster swept Principia College in a doubleheader at GCS Ballpark on April 8 to extend its winning streak to 13, and will host Greenville College for a single game on April 11 at GCS.  That is “Pack the House” night for baseball, and all student-athletes in the department, as well as the Webster University community at large, are encouraged to attend to close out NCAA D-III Week.

Webster Provost, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Julian Schuster will throw out a ceremonial first pitch before the game.
