Blair, Lee, Morohashi Named SLIAC Players of the Week

St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors for March 31-April 6 go to Gorlok baseball players Max Morohashi and C.J. Lee, and Travis Blair, men’s tennis.

Three Gorloks garnered St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors for March 31-April 6.

SLIAC/Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week

Max Morohashi, a sophomore from Encino, Calif., is the Diamond Sports Hitter of the Week. Morohashi hit .583 in four games on the week, going 7-12 from the plate. Morohashi had three multi-hit games on the week and added seven runs batted in with one home run. He knocked in three RBI in games against Blackburn and in game one of a three game series against Iowa Wesleyan. He added a 4-6 performance in a double header of the series finale against Iowa Wesleyan. Morohashi finished with four runs scored, two doubles and a triple while finishing the week with a .615 on-base percentage and 1.167 slugging percentage.

SLIAC/Diamond Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week

C.J. Lee, a freshman from Aurora, Ill., is the Diamond Sports Pitcher of the Week. Lee picked up a pair of wins on the week including winning his first collegiate start. In his first start Lee went six shutout innings in a 2-0 win over Blackburn. Lee recorded 10 strikeouts while allowing just five hits and one walk. In a relief appearance at Iowa Wesleyan, Lee worked the final five innings, allowing two runs on two hits, while striking out 11. On the week Lee went 11 innings and recorded 21 strikeouts while allowing just two runs on eight hits.

SLIAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

Travis Blair, a sophomore from Jerseyville, Ill., is the SLIAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. Blair won all three of his matches this week including a pair of singles matches. Playing at #1 singles Blair picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win over Illinois College. At the #2 single spot against Fontbonne, he recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win. In doubles play, Blair notched a 9-7 win at #1 doubles with partner freshman Skyler Adams.
