The 30th anniversary of Webster University’s campus in Leiden, the Netherlands, was occasion for celebration and some feature coverage of the University’s 30 years there.

The Amsterdam-based Zuidas magazine (in English) featured Webster and its locations in Leiden and Amsterdam with the article “Businesses Look for People with a, Global Mindset” (page 47), interviewing director Jean Paul van Marissing and student Giorgia Santamaria.

Leiden’s Leidsch Dagblad newspaper also featured (in Dutch) Webster’s history in the Netherlands, tracing all the way back to the University’s founding by the Sisters of Loretto in 1915.

Two days of celebration of the 30th anniversary included events with students, staff, faculty, alumni and external organizations. The first day was devoted to women’s leadership and the second day on the future of education.

Congratulations, Webster! I was pleased to work for the Netherlands campus as Academic Director in 1996-1998. I thought it was a good school, making a unique contribution to higher education in the Netherlands. I’m sorry I missed the party, but I would like to wish Webster Leiden all the best in the next 30 years. Warm regards, Sami Faltas
