McGinnis, Powers, Stoulp SLIAC Players of the Week

Three Gorloks were selected as St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week in their teams first week of the season. Webster softball players Erin McGinnis and Samantha Powers, and baseball player Taylor Stoulp, all were honored for their play the week of March 3-9. This was the first selection as SLIAC Player of the Week for all three.

McGinnis, a sophomore outfielder from Fenton, Mo., was named the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week. She batted .588 on the week, with three runs batted in as she helped the Gorloks to three wins last week in Clermont, Fla.

McGinnis pounded out 10 hits in 17 at bats as the Gorlok offense averaged 8.16 runs per game last week, scoring seven of those runs, had four stolen bases, and three RBIs.

Powers, a senior from Manchester, Mo., was named the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. Powers earned two of the Gorloks three wins last week in Clermont, Fla, compiling a 2-1 record. She went six innings, allowing six hits, a walk, and striking out three, in a 9-1 win over Marywood University (Pa.)

She followed up with a five inning, complete game effort against Becker College (Mass.), allowing just four hits while striking out three. On the week she had a 3.77 earned-run average, in a week where double-digit scoring was the norm.

Taylor Stoulp

A senior infielder from St. Louis, Stoulp picked up the SLIAC Baseball Hitter of the Week honors after hitting .625 and helping the #8 ranked Gorloks to a 2-0 record on the week in Auburndale, Fla. Stoulp went 3-3, with two RBIs and a stolen base in a 9-1 win over Aurora in the season opener. In a 10-5 win over #10 Cortland State (N.Y.), Stoulp was 2-5 with an RBI and a run scored.

In the field, Stoulp was perfect, while handling 12 chances and turning two double plays at second base.
