In the News: Vienna’s Kummer on Fiat-Chrysler; Rishe on Olympics, Super Bowl, MLB; Jazz Program on HEC-TV

| January 24, 2014

Recent  media coverage involving Webster University includes:

The completion of the Fiat-Chrysler merger and resulting decisions on headquarters and the markets for its primary stock listing has business reporters turning to Webster University Vienna’s Christopher Kummer for his analysis.

Bloomberg BusinessWeek quoted him:

“A listing in the U.S. makes sense, as this allows more flexibility to attract some institutional investors there,” said Christopher Kummer, president of the Institute of Mergers, Acquisitions and Alliances at Webster University in Vienna. “Setting it up in the U.K. however is a very unusual choice. With that regard, I would have looked at other more favorable locations.”

The story was also carried by the Detroit News, near the home of Chrysler and the U.S. auto industry.

Rishe on Olympics (CNN), MLB Drug Scandal and Super Bowl (Fox Sports Radio)

Patrick Rishe, professor of economics in the George Herbert Walker School of Business & Technology, was recently interviewed on Fox Sports Radio [mp3 audio here] about the financial fallout of the MLB Alex Rodriguez suspension and continuing controversy, and re-appeared on the radio network to discuss how the weather could impact spending at the upcoming Super Bowl [Fox Sports Radio audio here].

Separately, he was interviewed on CNN regarding his assessment of the financial impact of U.S. skier Lindsey Vonn missing the Olympics. His most recent “Business of Sports” column for Forbes online discusses factors influencing pricing in the secondary ticket market for the Super Bowl.
