[Updated] Sprinkler Pipe Burst Affects Requests for Replacement IT Hardware

| January 8, 2014

Jan. 17 Update:

As reported on Jan. 8, a sprinkler pipe burst in an equipment storage area in Sverdrup 107, which affected a large portion of replacement IT hardware. Since that announcement, an electronic mitigation service was secured to clean and repair any salvageable equipment, which has been ongoing. Additionally, Computer Technicians were relocated to temporary offices as Facilities works to restore SV 107. The health and safety of Webster employees remains first priority.

Users should still expect a delay in computer and parts replacements. Only emergency service requests for hardware will receive immediate attention at this time. All other replacement requests will be put on hold until further notice. This does not affect any other IT services, or University initiatives. Additional updates will be provided as information becomes available.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to resolve this matter.

Original Alert, Jan. 8:

On the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 7, a sprinkler pipe burst near an equipment storage area in Sverdrup, which will affect orders for replacement IT hardware. The University’s Facilities, Real Estate, Procurement and Public Safety teams are all working together to correct this situation as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately this has compromised a large portion of spare IT hardware accessories reserved for repairs and upgrades. As a result, users can expect a delay in computer and parts replacements. At this time, only emergency service requests involving hardware will receive immediate attention. All other replacement requests will be put on hold until further notice.

This does not affect any other IT services, or University initiatives. Additional updates will be provided as information becomes available.
