Dean’s Award Recipients Named for Fall 2

| December 16, 2013

Two students have been selected to receive the Dean’s Award for Service for Fall 2. The award recipients are: Kristen McDowell and Erin Rasmussen.

In order to be considered for the Dean’s Award one must be nominated by a member of the Webster University community for performing a valuable service. The term “service” encompasses a broad range of contributions made by students, both on- and off-campus.

Kristen McDowell, a senior education major from Staunton, Ill., was nominated by Justin Barton, coordinator for retention initiatives in the First-Year Experience Program. She was nominated for her leadership involvement and service around campus and in the community, with such groups as the women’s volleyball team, Delta Phi Epsilon, Student Athlete Advisory Committee, Student Education Association, Delegates’ Agenda, and the Southside Early Childhood Center.

Erin Rasmussen, a freshman education major from Kansas City, Mo., was nominated by Melissa Case, a sophomore education major. She was nominated for spending her fall break in the hospital to be a bone marrow donor to save the life of a stranger. Click here to read the full story on her experience.

Up to four students are recognized each term with the Dean’s Service Award. The awards will be presented at a luncheon to be held in late December or mid-January.
