Wallner Named Academic All-American: Third Honoree in Webster History

Junior defender Jeff Wallner is a 2013 Academic All-American, the third in Webster University’s history.

Webster University junior Jeff Wallner, a defender for the Webster University men’s soccer team, has been named to the Academic All-America (AAA) third team for NCAA Division III. He is the third honoree in Webster history to be chosen for the Academic All-America team. Previously, he was selected to the Academic All-District first team.

Wallner was a starter for the Gorloks, who finished 14-2-3 against NCAA Division III competition this season. The team also finished in a tie for first place in the conference regular-season standings with a 8-1 record in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Pursuing a double major in mathematics and education, Wellner boasts a 3.97 cumulative grade point average, including perfect 4.0 the last two semesters. He has twice been named to the SLIAC all-academic team.

Previous Academic All-America honorees from Webster are women’s soccer player Christy Capkovic, a third-team selection in 2010, and baseball player Eric Stack, a second-team selection in 1991.
