The Community Music School of Webster University (CMS) again welcomes the Altius String Quartet to its annual St. Looey Chamber Blitz taking place the weekend of Nov. 15-17. The program is presented as part of the CMS Preparatory Program.

In addition to other activities, the Altius Quartet will perform a concert Saturday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Music School concert hall. The concert will feature works including Haydn’s Quartet Op. 50, No. 1, Shostakovich’s Quartet No. 9, and Schubert’s famous Death and the Maiden.

Concluding the concert, the Quartet will be joined by members of the CMS Prep program and SIUE Suzuki Strings for the collaboration on the performance of Michael Abels’ Dances and Delights, conducted by Webster music professor Paul Davis.

An intensive weekend workshop offered by the Quartet features master classes, chamber coaching, private lessons, juried mock competition, lectures and a collaborative public performance with students and guest artists.
