Around Webster: Rodriguez’s NFL Hispanic Leadership Award; Greene Serves Urban League San Diego; Students Win Delta Mu Delta Award

Congratulations are in order for several Webster University community members:

Rodriguez Receives NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award

Guillermo Rodríguez, director of International Projects and Office of Study Abroad, has been selected as one of 32 recipients of the 2013 NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Awards. The National Football League (NFL), Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) and Courtyard by Marriott have partnered on these awards for the past three years.

A recipient is selected from each of the 32 communities that have NFL teams. Rodriguez was selected as the St. Louis recipient.

Candace Greene, CRC at the Webster San Diego Metro campus location, has been invited by Ray King, president and CEO of the Urban League of San Diego County, to serve on the Education and Youth Development Advisory Board of the Urban League of San Diego County for the fiscal year of 2013-14.

The committee will advise staff and volunteers about the latest trends in education; develop a memorandum of understanding as a partner; provide strategic counsel; make recommendations for education, youth development, training programs; and serve as a sounding board for initiatives and curriculum enhancements.

As King wrote to Greene: “As a stakeholder in the community and passionate about educational initiatives, the Urban League of San Diego County holds you in high esteem. We believe that you will be able to advise the board, volunteers, and staff on the programs that the organization offers or should offer in the near future for the benefits of our youth, so that they will be well prepared for college and work after high school.”

K.C., S.D., Vienna Webster Students Win Delta Mu Delta Board Awards

Congratulations to Webster University students who received the 2013 Delta Mu Delta Board Award, presented each year to outstanding business students. At Webster Kansas City, MS in Finance student Tiffany Ford received a scholarship of $1,000 to offset a portion of her educational expenses. Other Webster winners included Nazira Adieva at Webster San Diego and Sona Klucarova at Webster Vienna.

Delta Mu Delta members enrolled in the business programs at schools where there is a chapter of Delta Mu Delta are eligible to compete in the society’s annual Scholarship Awards Program. In 2013 the society presented 38 scholarships and up to 24 Regional Awards, totaling up to $59,000 to outstanding business students around the world.
