Webster Wellness Week: Wellness is not trivial – Pursue it!

Webster Wellness is bringing you a week of wellness Sept. 16 – 19.Take note of the schedule posted on our Webster Wellness blog. The highlights include:


Tuesday 9/17

  • Yoga demonstration for everyone at noon in the Sunnen Lounge. A yoga demonstration will be provided by Clayton Yoga. The demonstration will be videotaped for extended sites.

Thursday 9/19

  • Pursue your wellness goals at Webster Wellness Fair, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., in the Grant Gym:

Remember recess: Come play for a while in our recess area;
Try out our new #gorlokstrong bike blender and work your way to a yummy smoothie;
Enjoy a chair massage;
Get your bike inspected and registered for on-campus use;
See our Champion Webster Chess teammates in action as well as other fitness demonstrations and talk to our wellness vendors;
– Sign up for the new Weight Management Employee Support Group “Lose and Win” starting Oct. 9;

And, put your name in for a free prize drawing every 15 minutes. Participants in the fair will also be entered in drawings for six GRAND prizes, including a Garmin Multisport Forerunner 910XT Watch or Polar Heart Rate Monitor. (Extended Sites submit your request for entry to wellness@webster.edu.

  • Healthy Happy Hour at the Sand Volleyball Court, 3 – 7 p.m. Bring your friends, colleagues and get a game going.



Thursday 9/19 11 a.m. -1 p.m. – BJC Community Health Screening for students and non-UHC employees ONLY (blood pressure, blood sugar, total cholesterol, consult with an RN) held in Sunnen Lounge 11a-1p. Sign up in advance.



Monday 9/16 – Noon Brown Bag Lunch in Sunnen Lounge on “Outcomes from the 2012 Employee Health Assessment” presented by Eric Goedereis, PhD, Assistant Professor, Behavioral Health.  To attend the WebEx presentation click on the link and if asked, the meeting password is “wellness.”

Wednesday 9/18 – Biometric health screening for employees covered by UHC. Pre-register at http://register.wellness-inc.com/WU. Take advantage of this opportunity to get your results on your annual Health Assessment. See above opportunity for employees not covered by UHC.

Webster Wellness is kicking off a new Weight Management Employee Support Group — “Lose and Win.” Meetings will be weekly on Wednesdays at noon in EAB 153, starting next Wednesday, Oct. 9. Sign up at Webster Wellness Fair or contact wellness@webster.edu.

Program materials are provided by UnitedHealthcare with topics on how to read nutrition labels, plan healthy meals, add structured exercise, recognize emotional eating, managing stress and more. The program is completely free to all employees. If this is an area where you need support, plan to join us.
