Webster University’s participation in July 4th Independence Day celebrations included two of the largest festivals in the St. Louis region.

Champion chess and baseball players were featured on the Webster University float.

Staging for the annual Webster Groves Community Days parade began right in front of Webster’s home campus and took parade-goers through the heart of Webster Groves, the suburban St. Louis community where the University was founded in 1915.

The University’s part in the parade included a float saluting the champion baseball and chess teams, as well as convertibles provided by MINI of St. Louis carrying Webster coaches Susan Polgar (chess) and Bill Kurich (baseball), in recognition of them being named Coach of the Year by their respective sporting bodies.

The Webster University float was awarded Best Neighborhood Entry by the judging panel.
