Alumnus Confirmed for Promotion to Brigadier General, Takes on Assignment at Scott AFB

19th Airlift Wing Change of Command

The 19th Airlift Wing change of command ceremony took place July 9 at the Little Rock Air Force Base.

On Tuesday, July 9, Col. Brian S. (Smokey) Robinson ’02 turned over the command of the 19th Airlift Wing at Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark., to Col. Patrick Rhatigan.

Recently confirmed for promotion to the rank of brigadier general, Robinson is headed to a new assignment as vice commander of the 618th Tanker Airlift Control Center (TACC) located at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Robinson earned his master’s degree at Webster’s Scott AFB campus location in 2002.

“Col. Robinson will be missed,” said Elizabeth Hopkins, assistant director at Webster University’s Little Rock AFB location. “He has been wonderful to us, and we wish him well in his new assignment.”

Robinson was the 2012 commencement speaker at Webster’s Little Rock location and also spoke to a capstone class.

As commander of the 618th TACC he will oversee the planning, scheduling and directing of a fleet of more than 1,300 mobility aircraft in support of combat delivery and strategic airlift, air refueling and aeromedical evacuation operations around the world.

The 618th unit is a total force team consisting of active duty, reserve, Air National Guard, contractor and civil service personnel. With close to 700 personnel, the organization is capable of seamlessly transitioning from day-to-day operations to contingency support or disaster relief.
