Now in its third year, the Sustainability Institute for P12 Educators has become an annual tradition through the Webster University School of Education.

“Sustainability in education is more than recycle bins in the classroom, it’s about global citizenship.”

That’s the word from Lori Diefenbacher, coordinator of education for sustainability and adjunct faculty member in Webster University’s School of Education, explaining this week’s third annual Sustainability Institute for P12 Educators.

“As educators we should be helping students analyze what they are doing, where they are going and how these decisions impact their neighbors locally and globally,” Diefenbacher says.

The hands-on workshop, held in the East Academic Building June 25-27, will focus on the issues of climate change and how educators can bring awareness to our youth to help them learn to be responsible and to take action for a safer and more sustainable future.
