WAITING FOR GUFFMAN (Christopher Guest, 1996, USA, 84 min.)

The plot concerns Corky St. Clair (Christopher Guest), an off-off-off-Broadway director, who struggles to produce an amateur theater show about the history of Blaine, Mo., for its 150th Anniversary starring a local dentist, a couple of travel agents, a Dairy Queen waitress, and a car repairman.

He invites a Broadway theater critic Mr. Guffman to see the opening night of the show. The characters are delivered by accomplished improvisation actors Fred Willard, Catherine O’Hare, Eugene Levy, Parker Posey, and more.

The Webster University Film Series receives funding from the Regional Arts Commission and the Missouri Arts Council — a state agency.
