Graduation weekend at Webster Univesity’s Vienna campus began with the Honors Convocation Cocktail on the evening of May 17. More than 100 people attended the celebration of the best students in the beautiful location of Palais Eschenbach. Families and friends joined in this proud moment as 16 awardees received their certificates.

2013 saw the largest group of grads participating in Webster Vienna’s commencement ceremony in the history of the campus, which opened in 1981.

The Commencement Ceremony took place the next day in the wonderful Mozartsaal at the Konzerthaus in the heart of Vienna. This year’s event had the biggest graduating group ever to participate in Webster Vienna’s Commencement Ceremony: 130 students, including 76 bachelor’s and 54 master’s candidates.

The graduates, in gowns, proceeded into the Mozartsaal together with distinguished guests of honor, including Advisory Board members and donors, all  accompanied by the sound of “Pomp and Circumstance.”

More than 30 faculty members from Webster Vienna also walked in the procession, led by the Student Council president who carried the Webster flag.

All 641 seats in the Mozartsaal were filled, including standing places. The stage and seats included guests of honor such as keynote speaker H.E. William C. Eacho, Ambassador of the United States to Austria.

The keynote was delivered by H.E. William C. Eacho, U.S. Ambassador to Austria.

After the recognitions and honors and speeches from the keynote and valedictorians, each student was called up on stage by name to have their degree conferred by Dr. Arthur Hirsh, director of Webster Vienna.

The event ended with the recessional march to the music of Vivaldi and a reception.

The final event of this celebratory weekend was the Alumni Cocktail, which welcomes new graduates into the Alumni Association. Approximately 350 new and old alumni celebrated along with family and friends at the hip location Chaya Fuera in Vienna.
