Robert W. Parrent has been appointed interim chief enrollment officer at Webster University, President Elizabeth (Beth) J. Stroble and Provost, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Julian Z. Schuster announced today.

In this position, Parrent will lead the University’s global recruitment and retention efforts from the home campus in Webster Groves, Mo. He succeeds Paul Carney, who this month was named to the new position of assistant provost for Student Affairs and Athletics.

“Dr. Parrent has a history of collaborating with administrative leaders and deans to grow enrollment in harmony with an institution’s mission,” President Stroble said. “We look forward to him joining us at Webster as we continue progress toward our vision.”

“Dr. Parrent comes to us with tremendous experience,” Provost Schuster said. “His comprehensive insight and acumen in enrollment management, including utilizing the latest technology to better serve prospective students, will help our University achieve near-term and long-term strategic goals.”

Parrent comes to Webster from the University of Central Arkansas, where he was vice president for Enrollment Management. He previously served as vice president for Student Affairs at the University of Southern Indiana, and as associate vice president for Enrollment Management at Southeast Missouri State University.

His 30-plus years of higher education experience include leadership roles in enrollment and admissions at Midway College, the University of Louisville, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He also has corporate experience as chief operations officer for Sheldon Management and Consulting in Bowling Green, Ky.

At Webster, he will lead enrollment management for the only Tier 1, private, nonprofit university with campus locations around the world including metropolitan, military, online and corporate, as well as American-style traditional campuses in North America, Europe and Asia.

“Webster is a highly respected University with diverse program offerings and a diverse student body,” Parrent said. “Its global reach and global mission makes it a very appealing place where my experience will fit quite well. My wife, Joni, and I look forward to becoming a part of the community.”

Parrent will start June 3.
