[UPDATED] May Canvas and Web-Enhancement Webinars

The Faculty Development Center has added four new WorldClassRoom webinars to the schedule below. We also plan to make videos of previous webinars available for viewing online for those whose schedules don’t permit them to view any of our live webinars. We will provide more information when available. The original post, with an updated schedule, follows below:

Blackboard Being Replaced by Canvas

WorldClassRoom is transitioning from Blackboard to Canvas, starting with the summer term, and faculty members who want to continue to web enhance their course should prepare for this transition since content will not be moved from one system to the other. Any content (course files and or student work) in Blackboard not downloaded to your computer will no longer be accessible after May 24. This applies only to web enhanced courses since fully online courses are being transitioned by the Online Learning Center.

Web Enhancement with Canvas: Webinars and Open Labs

Beginning May 3, faculty members teaching summer term courses will have access to their web enhanced courses in WorldClassRoom, now powered by Canvas (formerly Blackboard). We invite faculty members who would like an orientation to enhancing their class with these new and easy-to-use tools to attend one on these webinar offerings in the month of May. (Note: Faculty members teaching fully online classes are being trained by the Online Learning Center.)

WorldClassRoom: Get Your Class Organized

This webinar will cover all of the essential items you will need to know to get your web-enhanced class ready for the beginning of the semester, including sharing your syllabus, using the calendar to highlight important dates, and making course materials available. While this webinar welcomes newcomers to web-enhancement, it should be of particular interest to faculty members who routinely used Blackboard’s Syllabus tool, Calendar and File Manager.

WorldClassRoom: Assignments

This webinar will cover what faculty needs to know to create, collect, and grade assignments. Tools discussed include the new SpeedGrader, TurnItIn integration, and WorldClassRoom’s new grade book. This webinar will be of interest to faculty members who routinely used Blackboard’s Assignments tool, TurnItIn, and Grade Book.
