Webster University freshman Fidel Corrales Jimenez, a grandmaster from Cuba, has captured 2013 Philadelphia Open. This is one of the strongest open tournaments of the year in the United States, with 10 grandmasters and 13 international masters.

It is also the final warmup tournament for Corrales prior to the college chess Final Four next weekend, where he will play board #4 for Webster University, the top-ranked college chess team in the nation.

His final score at the Philadelphia Open was 7 points in 9 games (5 wins, 4 draws, 0 losses).
