Webster Baseball Ranks Top 20 Nationally in D3Baseball Poll

| March 22, 2013

D3Baseball.com ranks the Webster University baseball team in the Top 20 teams nationwide.

The Webster University baseball team, coming off a successful run in the Russ Matt Central Florida Invitational, is ranked in the Top 20 in the nation in this week’s D3Baseball.com poll.

The Gorloks are also ranked in the Top 25 ABCA/Collegiatel Baseball national poll.

Webster held a 10th place pre-season ranking but tumbled after an 0-3 homestand left them at 2-4 overall. In Florida, the Gorloks rebounded in fine fashion, beating then ranked #1 Wheaton College (Mass.) to start the Invitational. After losing to #4 ranked Cortland State (who took over #1 the following week), Webster defeated #9 St. Joseph’s College (Maine), #2 ranked and defending NCAA III World Series champ Marietta College (OH), and #25 ranked Augustana College (Ill.). Webster wound up the trip 5-1 and 7-5 overall.

The Gorloks begin the defense of their St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference crown with a three-game set vs. MacMurray College on March 23 and March 25.
