Freshman Preview Day

Prospective students and parents packed campus for Freshman Preview Day at Webster.

Recruitment and publicity efforts helped attract a record turnout of high school juniors and seniors to Webster University’s home campus in St. Louis for Monday’s February Freshman Preview Day.

The event is a key part of the recruitment cycle and represents collaborative efforts across multiple departments to market and build awareness of the University, recruit and match prospective students to their program interests and resources, and offer them a taste of campus and student life.

Including the students’ parents and siblings, more than 300 visitors were on campus, with several prospective students participating in an overnight program in the residence halls the evening before. They came from as far away as Texas, Connecticut, California and Georgia, and from as close as Webster Groves High School.

The visitors were welcomed to campus in the morning by President Beth Stroble. The day’s activities also included:

  • an Admissions and Financial Aid presentation
  • a panel of current students who discussed being involved on campus
  • academic program information sessions
  • campus tours
  • buffet lunch
  • Student Services and Involvement Fair

From raising awareness of Webster, to attracting the students to campus, to delivering a great experience once they arrived, more than 100 Webster faculty, staff, and current students teamed up to make the event a success. Substantial strategic advertising helped drive attendance.

“This was a tremendous opportunity to showcase Webster University to potential future students,” said director of Undergraduate Admissions Andrew Laue, director of Undergraduate Admissions, who was one of the speakers at the event. “Our guests learned what it’s like to be a Webster student, and gained firsthand knowledge of the academic offerings and student life. Thanks to all the faculty, staff, and students who helped make the day so successful.”
