January 2013 Employees of the Month

| February 8, 2013

Trish Dillender, representative, Math & Computer Science Department, and Lisa Foss, undergraduate advisor and graduate recruiter, Webster Leiden, share the Employee Spotlight Honors for the month of January 2013.

Trish Dillender‘s nominator credits her with “keeping everything running smoothly” during the Fall semester when the department chair was in Thailand.

Colleagues appreciate Trish’s ability to juggle many different tasks at once. “She is very thorough,” says the nominator. “Without her, we would be lost.

“She is a great asset the the Department of Math & Computer Sciences.”

Twenty-one years ago, Trish came to work at Webster as a department assistant at the St. Peter’s campus, and she has been with Math & Computer Science since 2000.

Trish enjoys the pleasant working environment in her office and the University and really enjoys working with faculty and students.

Touching the lives of students is especially meaningful for Trish. A student who stands out in her mind graduated last December. “He made a special trip to my office to thank me for all of the assistance he received during his four years with Webster,” says Trish. “He was so thrilled to be graduating he beamed from ear-to-ear. It was truly a rewarding moment.”

Trish chose a day off with pay as her prize.

Her nominator describes Lisa Foss as “an exceptional person and co-worker who is entirely focused on the students’ experience. She performs beyond expectations, works overtime and provides the highest quality service and care for others.

Lisa has worked in several roles at Webster’s campus for five years. “She is an excellent recruiter for our graduate programs and recently began working as an undergraduate advisor in addition,” says Lisa’s nominator.

Lisa’s expertise runs across all teams: on-campus, enrollment, academic and facilities, and her contributions enrich the lives of staff and faculty on a daily basis. “And, she always puts the students first,” the nominator adds.

Lisa says even though it’s typical for Webster employees to like working with students, she wants to emphasize that she truly enjoys working with and helping them in any way she can. Whether it’s in the capacity of guiding them to the point of acceptance in her admissions position or advising them as they plan their academic career, it’s what she enjoys most about her job.

“Ad added benefit is that I’m fortunate enough to work with an amazing group of people who are also dedicated to giving our students the best experience possible,” Lisa says.

On a recent birthday, Lisa was surprised by a compilation of messages from students she has worked with expressing their kind thoughts and appreciation for what she has done for them and her willingness to help. “It meant so much,” she says.

Lisa chose the day off with pay as her prize.
