Webster Film and Video Society Welcomes Alumni Filmmakers

The Webster Film and Video Society is up and running, and looking forward to hosting several events this semester, including two alumni filmmakers at its next meeting.

The Webster Film and Video Society is a student organization run by Webster University School of Communications students and dedicated to students in all aspects to film and video, including:

  • Actors & Actresses
  • Audio (Boom Op, Sound Recordist, Sound Editor, Sound Mixer, Composers, Lyricist)
  • Cameras (Cinematography, Camera Operators)
  • Directing
  • Producing
  • Editing
  • Lighting (Gaffers, Best Boys)
  • Screenwriting (Script Doctors, Script Coordinators, Script Supervisors)
  • Hair / Makeup artists
  • Costume Designers
  • Set Directors
  • Behind the Scenes Documentors
  • and more

The organization wants Webster University students to be able to connect, network and gain practice for current/future film and video projects within the University as well as connect with others out in the industry.

Alumni Filmmakers

The next meeting is Feb. 19, 2013, at 9:30 in the Emerson Library Conference Room. Gayle Gallagher and Wyatt Weed, two Webster alumni and filmmakers in the St. Louis area, will be special guests and will take questions from students.

Upcoming Events

WFVS Oscar Party: Feb. 24, 2013, 6 p.m. in the Sunnen Lounge. Come join us as we celebrate The Oscars. Food will be provided.

WFVS 48 Hour Film Festival: TBA; The 48 Hour Film Festival invites filmmakers from Webster University to produce a complete short movie in just two days. On Friday night, groups are assigned a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, that must be included in your movie. 48 hours later, you must submit your film. Prizes are awarded.

WFVS Student Film Festival: TBA; At the end of the year we will be collect submissions and awarding students for their best work. We will have a showing of films submitted as well.
