Seven Webster University international students were among those honored at the 176th annual dinner and meeting of the St. Louis Regional Chamber(formerly the St. Louis RCGA) last week.

Webster University President Beth Stroble and her Fontbonne peer Dennis Golden provided the welcoming and special recognition remarks to kick off the evening, which brought about 1,000 St. Louis area business, civic and elected leaders and guests to the Khorassan Ballroom at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel.

Presidents Stroble and Golden are co-chairs of the Chamber’s St. Louis Regional Higher Education Council.

In all, 70 international students pursuing degrees at 15 colleges and universities throughout the bi-state St. Louis region were honored guests. The students represent St. Louis’ growing international community, which currently includes students from 146 home countries.

The students also represent one of the region’s vital assets for the future. St. Louis Regional Chamber President & CEO Joe Reagan noted that St. Louis’ prosperity in the knowledge-driven global economy must be built on educational attainment and economic inclusion. The presence of such a vast international student community in metro St. Louis portends well for this future.

Stroble noted that the students’ presence “makes tangible – in an amazing way – the links between education and the global economy.”

Honored Webster students included:

  • Cindy Mei Po Quan Valles from Guatemala
  • Araba Budu-Anguah from Ghana
  • Maria Adele Molteni from Tanzania
  • Doreen Rwigamba from Rwanda
  • Nabil Moh Tajouri from Libya
