The Department of Art invites the broader Webster community to the premiere presentation of two haunting and evocative videos by Electronic & Photographic Media professor Van McElwee as part of our Visiting Artist Lecture Series.

Internationally renowned video artist and McElwee will show his most recent works, “Dream Travel” and “Travel Dream,” Friday, Jan. 18, at noon in the Moore Auditorium.

Mirroring the flux of dreams and memories, travel footage from a period of intense image gathering (roughly the 1990s) is woven into a grainy hypnotic tapestry; video into dream, dream into video. “Dream Travel” and “Travel Dream” are designed to be shown together.

McElwee, a recent recipient of the prestigious Guggenheim Award, will present his work and respond to questions from the audience. All are welcome.
