| December 20, 2012

Karl Sterner, regional director of Webster’s Rocky Mountain Region, has been appointed to a new role at Webster University: Senior Director for Extended Campus and Graduate Enrollment. He will assume this position in January 2013 in St. Louis.

Focus on Prospective Student Activities Aimed at Solidifying Enrollments

As senior director, Karl will join the Office of Academic Affairs and work closely with administrative and academic units to coordinate network-wide activities focused on prospective students. Such activities will include the development and implementation of information sessions for prospective students, training on prospective student issues for staff, coordinating marketing requests and efforts, and developing short- and long-term strategies to solidify and grow graduate and extended domestic location enrollment.

“Karl has a proven record of success in stabilizing and growing enrollments,” said Provost & Senior Vice President Julian Schuster. “By implementing best practices in prospective student activities across the segments and locations – metropolitan, military, St. Louis area, online, international – we will be able to better coordinate enrollment efforts.”

“Karl has experience in a full range of initiatives focused on generating new enrollments,” said Associate Provost Nancy Hellerud. “He will work with Global Marketing & Communications, Admissions, the schools and colleges, and other units to strengthen our current practices – and develop new initiatives – to enhance Webster’s relationship with prospective students.”

Karl has been with Webster University since 2003, when he was named campus director in Sarasota, Fla. In 2006, he became senior director at the Denver, Colo. location; he was named regional director, Rocky Mountain Region, in 2008.

Karl earned his B.S. in Education and M.S. in Education, Educational Administration from Youngstown State University. He has an MBA from Webster University, and a Doctor of Education, Educational Leadership/Higher Education Administration, from Argosy University/University of Sarasota.
