Sarasota Alumnus Gives Back with Human Resources Scholarship

| December 12, 2012

Graduate student Jaclyn Mitchell, second from left, is the first to receive the SHRA Webster Professor of Human Resources scholarship.

The Sarasota-Manatee Human Resources Association (SHRA) awarded Tampa graduate student Jaclyn Mitchell the first-ever Webster Professor of Human Resources scholarship at its monthly meeting Dec. 7.

Mitchell is a student in Webster University’s Master of Arts in Human Resources Management program at the Tampa and Sarasota campus locations who graduates Dec. 14.

The scholarship was developed to honor three Webster faculty members: Margaret Beck, Tampa faculty member; Ron Hamilton, Tampa business program coordinator and faculty member; and Heather Vogel, Sarasota business academic advisor and faculty member.

The scholarship is a $1,000 award per year, for up to two years, donated by a SHRA member and Webster University alumnus who wishes to remain anonymous.

  1. Frank W. says:

Fantastic to be able to read about a SHRA member in partnership with a University alumnus taking the lead and delivering a scholarship to students of Webster University. Too often students of HR seem to be left out of scholarships, with generous donors preferring to provide scholarships in areas such as business, law or medicine. Those two individuals providing a scholarship should be both congratulated and emulated.
