St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) commissioner Will Wolper has announced Jeanne Zes Gilbert, a three-year softball and basketball player for the Gorloks from 1997-2000, was named to the 2013 Hall of Fame Class. Zes Gilbert is one of four former SLIAC players and one former coach in the SLIAC’s 2013 Class, and she was also inducted into the Webster University Athletics Hall of Fame earlier this year.

Zes Gilbert was a letter-winner in both softball and women’s basketball at Webster. While she was a significant contributor to the women’s basketball squad at forward, averaging 7.5 points per game in her last two seasons, it was her performance as pitcher for the Gorlok softball team where she made her mark in Webster sports history, earning her spot in the Webster Athletics Hall of Fame.

In three seasons, Zes Gilbert led the softball team to three straight SLIAC titles, two SLIAC Tournament Championships and three NCAA Division III Tournament appearances. She was named the SLIAC Player of the Year in 1998, along with earning SLIAC First Team All-Conference and NFCA All-Midwest Region honors. Zes Gilbert also named SLIAC First Team All-Conference in 2000 and Second Team in 1999. During her career, Zes Gilbert was named the SLIAC Pitcher of the Week a total of five times.

Aside from the honors, Zes Gilbert’s numbers as a Gorlok speak for themselves. Webster softball was 101-23 overall and 36-3 in the SLIAC from 1998-2000. As a senior, she went 16-2 with a 0.69 earned run average for the season. Additionally, she ranks in the top three in every major pitching category at Webster, including earned run average (1.37-3rd), strikeouts (253-3rd), wins (48-2nd), shutouts (13-2nd), and win-loss percentage (.814-1st).

Zes Gilbert, along with the four other recipients, will be formally inducted into the SLIAC Hall of Fame during the SLIAC Awards and Recognition Banquet, to be held in St. Louis on May 21, 2013. Specific information on location and time will be announced closer to the event.

Zes Gilbert graduated with a BA in Early Childhood Education in 2000, and an MAT in 2005.
