Coach Kurich accepts the St. Louis Award on behalf of his team.

The Webster University baseball team was honored at the annual St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame Dinner Nov. 14 at the Millennium Hotel.

The team received the Champions Award in recognition of their outstanding 2012 season.

The annual dinner is an occasion that honors outstanding local sports and inducts new members into the Hall — last night’s inductees included St. Louis Blues goaltender Glenn Hall and St. Louis Cardinals greats Ken Boyer and Jim Edmonds, among others.

Webster had a large contingent as all of the baseball players and coaches were on hand, as well as a number of the Athletic Department staff and several administrators from the University.   Webster had six full tables in all at the gala, which benefits in part the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation.

Reflecting on a Banner Year

The following video featuring several Webster baseball players’ thoughts — and highlights — from their season was displayed at the event.

It was a banner year for the baseball Gorloks, who won the NCAA regional and advanced to the NCAA D-III World Series for the first time.

The honor from the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame is the latest accolade, after several individual and team awards, a proclamation from the City of Shrewsbury and a featured spot in the Webster Groves July 4 parade.
