NCAA tournament time

Friday, Nov. 9, is the NCAA Division III first round date for Webster University men’s and women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball. All three teams will be playing on the road in Illinois against Chicago-area opponents after winning their SLIAC tournament championships.

Both soccer teams kick-off at 11 a.m. The men’s soccer team plays at Dominican University, located in River Forest, roughly 10 miles due west of downtown Chicago. Webster is 12-5-2 for the year and ranked 10th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) Central Region. The Stars (16-2-1) are ranked first in the Central Region and eighth in the NSCAA national poll.

The women’s soccer team plays at Wheaton College, in Wheaton, located about 25 miles due west of downtown Chicago.  Webster is 16-5 on the season and ranked eighth in the Central Region. The Thunder are ranked second in the Central Region and 11th in the NSCAA national poll.


With an 8 p.m. match-up, the women’s volleyball team takes on host Elmhurst College, in Elmhurst, about 18 miles due west of downtown Chicago. Webster is 24-9, having won 16 of its last 17 contests.  Elmhurst comes into the match 29-7 and ranked ninth nationally in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

For fans planning on attending in person, admission for each contest is for $6 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens, $2 for ages 3-12.
