Student Literacy Corps Children’s Book Drive Oct. 1-8

| September 28, 2012

The Student Literacy Corps coordinated children’s book drive runs Oct. 1-8 in conjunction with Webster Works Worldwide.

It’s that time again! The Webster Works Worldwide Children’s Book Drive will be collecting new or gently used children’s books for donation to low-income children throughout the St. Louis area from Oct. 1 – 8.

Since 2001, the Student Literacy Corps (SLC) has coordinated this drive in conjunction with Webster Works Worldwide. Webster students, faculty, and staff have donated books to schools, family literacy programs, and shelters serving children from infants through adolescents.

By donating these books to agencies in low-income areas, we have shared our of love of reading with children who have limited access to quality children’s books.

Additionally, many of these kids come from families for whom purchasing children’s books is just beyond their budget, who live in neighborhoods where it may be unsafe to take a walk to their local library.

To date, 11,156 books have been donated. Please help us to reach 12,000 in 2012.
