Department of Music Upcoming Events

The following events sponsored by Webster University’s Department of Music are free and open to all. Unless otherwise noted, they take place in the Thompson Music Building Recital Hall.

  • Thursday, Sept. 13, noon — German musician Horst Buchholz speaks followed by a Q&A session. Buchholz runs the music program at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis and their Cathedral Concerts series. He recently returned from a choir tour to Central Europe.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 18, 7 p.m. — First Symphony Tuesday: Thomas Jöstlein, associate principal horn in the Saint Louis Symphony, performs a recital on French horn, Alphorn, and natural horn.
  • Monday, Sept. 24, 7 p.m., Moore Auditorium — Jazz at Webster: “Have You Heard?,” the music of Pat Metheny with the Tom Byrne Ensemble.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 25, 7 p.m. — Concert Series: String Faculty Recital.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 2, noon — Dawn Karlovsky speaks on Alexander Technique for Musicians.
  • Monday, Oct. 8, 7 p.m. —  Soprano Christine Brewer participates in a panel discussion.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 9, 7 p.m., Community Music School stage — Soprano Christine Brewer presents a voice master class.
