The mixer was a chance for people from across Webster departments to network.

Webster University staff at the home campus gathered for an after-work mixer Tuesday, an event for “networking, shared ideas and communication” arranged by Webster Staff Alliance and administrative leaders President Beth Stroble and Provost Julian Schuster.

WSA Chair Tamara Minley welcomed gatherers to the event, which was designed to bring staff from different departments together — in part to help open the channels for “seamless execution and baton hand-off” referenced in 2012 Fall Convocation.

“We’ve had so much to celebrate lately,” Stroble said, referencing the recent “Great Colleges to Work For” celebrations and other initiatives over the past year.

Provost Schuster (center) thanked WSA leadership for arranging the event.

In informal remarks, Stroble polled the crowd of attendees for participants in Webster Wellness initiatives — be it a Zumba class, the mile-by-mile marathon, or simply thinking more about wellness. She said those events are good not only for our health, but also to help Webster employees put faces to the names of people they work with so often on the other end of the line.

On that note, Schuster reflected on life at Webster: “Think about it. All of us spend more of our time at Webster than in any one place,” he said. “So it’s good that we can work together and create bonds with one another.

“I thank the WSA leadership for reaching out to the administration and reaching out to all of you to make an event like this happen.”

The event took place from 4 – 5:30 p.m. in the East Academic Building’s Centene Atrium.
