| August 16, 2012

WWW 17 Denver Campus volunteers

Webster Works Worldwide (WWW), our annual community service day, is just around the corner on Wednesday, Oct. 3. Since the start of WWW in 1995, over 24,000 volunteers have given more than 106,000 hours of service! We hope you will join us in this very important Webster tradition.

The 2012 WWW projects have been added to the database and we have enabled Team Leader sign up (only!) online. See below for information about serving as a WWW Team Leader.

Please follow the link below to look at the projects offered this year. Projects that need a Team Leader have “TEAM LEADER NEEDED” at the beginning of the description. Click on the project description for additional information. Then, click on “Sign Up” to register as the Team Leader. See “How do I sign up to be a Team Leader?” below for detailed information on how to sign up as the Team Leader. http://www.webster.edu/www/projects

If you would also like to reserve the project for your group please follow the steps above to sign up as the Team Leader, then email me with the name of the project and group to heatherarora13@webster.edu. We’ll add the RESERVED status to the project.

Volunteers can sign up online starting on August 29th. For more information about the event go to the WWW website:

What is a Team Leader?  Team Leaders are volunteers who serve as liaisons between individual volunteers and the agency in need. The Team Leader plays a critical role in communicating the details of the project and coordinating volunteers.

What are the responsibilities of a Team Leader?  Responsibilities of the Team Leader include verification of details with the agency (time, location, number of volunteers needed, expectations), contacting volunteers on their team to make sure they know all of the details, arrange for transportation for volunteers if needed, pick up t-shirts and paperwork and distribute them to the team on the day of WWW, and making sure volunteers sign the roster and complete evaluations.

How do I sign up to be a Team Leader?  If you are interested in being a Team Leader, please view the project list available in August on the WWW website. Type in the words: “team leader needed” in the search window to view all projects that are in need of a Team Leader.  After finding the project that is best for you, click on the project description and sign up for the project. Please make sure to indicate “yes” for the question: “Are you interested in being a Team Leader?” The database generates an automatic confirmation for all volunteers. Please allow 24 hours for confirmation of your Team Leader status.

Can I reserve a project for my group? (class, residence hall, sports team)  YES! If you wish to reserve a particular project for your group, please sign up as a Team Leader and immediately contact Heather Arora heatherarora13@webster.edu to let her know that you would like to hold that project for a certain group. The online project description will be updated to reflect the “Reserved” status to ensure your group gets that project. Please keep in mind the number of volunteers needed for each project so that the project you choose is compatible with the number of volunteers in your group.
