FOX2 St. Louis interviewed Susan Polgar Sunday, July 22, about the Susan Polgar Girls’ Invitational opening that afternoon at Webster University. When asked the reason for holding a chess tournament focused on young women, Polgar responded that chess teaches a number of skills, including logic, decision making and concentration and “It’s definitely not just for boys,” as it was when she first began playing.

The Ninth Annual Susan Polgar Girls’ Invitational with girls from age six to 19 years of age takes place July 22 – 27 in the Loretto-Hilton Theatre on Webster’s campus.

Chess teaches a number of skills, including concentration.
