Mike Fallon and the Gorlok get ready to walk the red carpet.

Ocala Metro campus community relations coordinator Mike Fallon represented Webster University at a recent star-studded event to benefit higher education in North Central Florida.

The event was hosted by higher education partner school, The College of Central Florida, along with Ocala celebrity residents John Travolta, his wife Kelly Preston and their daughter Ella Bleu.

Attended by local and state government officials, celebrities, area residents and a “who’s who” of the Ocala community, the nearly five-hour event included something extra — a movie premiere.

The Hollywood-style premiere was one of three U.S. debuts for Oliver Stone’s new film, Savages, starring Travolta.

“It’s a very special day because it’s the first time the studio has ever let me have a movie [in Ocala] prior to it being open to the U.S. public, so you are seeing it before everyone else,” Travolta said.

Fallon, who walked the red carpet along with the celebrities, noted the premier wasn’t quite as large as those in L.A. or New York, but that nearly 400 people lined the red carpet to catch a glimpse of Travolta and Preston.

“It’s especially touching that Travolta and Preston are starting a local scholarship in honor of their late son, Jett,” Fallon said.

Proceeds from the event will benefit five local charities, including the new Jett Travolta Scholarship Fund.
