As a major sponsor of this year’s Fair Saint Louis, held on the grounds of the Gateway Arch to celebrate Independence Day, Webster University was also a proud participant in the Fair’s “Salute to the Troops” on Friday, July 6.
Despite near-record-breaking heat, a brave crowd turned out for the celebration Friday night to welcome back members of the 1138th Transportation Company of the Missouri Army National Guard, who had just returned from a 10-month deployment in Afghanistan.
Featured in the ceremonies (and pictured below) was the 1175th Military Police Color Guard of the Missouri Army National Guard.
Webster University President Beth Stroble expressed our thanks and gratitude to service members.
She also helped introduced Brig. Gen. Mike Callan, USAF (Ret.), Webster’s new associate vice president for Military and Governmental Programs.

As part of the festivities, a video tribute to men and women in the service was shown, recognizing their efforts and nodding to Webster’s 40-year history of working with the U.S. Department of Defense to provide high-quality and cost-effective graduate programs at military installations throughout the country.
The video [embedded above] was produced by Webster’s Global Marketing and Communications unit.

Earlier in the week, Webster University also participated in the local Webster Groves Community Days 4th of July parade, with the regional champion Webster University baseball team featured prominently.
