Two important events took place recently at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Their informal graduation ceremony was held June 29 with special guest Julie Palmer, assistant professor of management with the George Herbert Walker School of Business & Technology.

Another reason to celebrate was the July 2 ribbon cutting ceremony for the base’s new Student Union, marking the beginning of a new era for the area that houses the Education Center and Airman and Family Readiness complex.

Crowning the new indoor/outdoor area is a vibrant tile mural of the base’s history created by Claudia Gullett, a local artist and military wife.

Open to all DOD affiliated personnel and dependents, the Student Union offers a venue individuals can book to host their events free of charge.

A Facebook page for events, activities and photos associated with the Student Union can be found on Facebook at “Scott AFB Student Union.”
