Today, June 14, 2012, Webster University salutes the men and women of the United States Army, its veterans and their families as this branch of the military celebrates its 237th birthday.
Two hundred and thirty-seven years ago, the nation’s leaders established the Continental Army, beginning a rich heritage of successfully defending the United States and her citizens.
Webster University’s history with the military dates back to 1974, when, at the invitation of the Department of Defense, Webster offered graduate level programs for the first time at Ft. Sheridan near Chicago, Ill. Since that date Webster has been honored to serve many branches of the United States Armed Forces.
Today, more than 3,500 of Webster’s 21,000 students have a military connection.
