The overall project will improve wheelchair access to Webster Hall and enhance the outdoor gathering space.

Crews and engineers from BSI Subsurface Constructors today began the installation of concrete piers that will support the new Webster Hall elevator shaft set to open in November.

Six 30-foot holes are being drilled down to limestone bedrock to support the structure.

The project will provide wheelchair access to all levels of Webster Hall and will replace the original elevator.

In addition to the new elevator, the southeastern courtyard of Webster Hall will be landscaped to provide an improved outdoor gathering space.
