May 2012 Employees of the Month

| June 4, 2012

Elvir Mandzukic, faculty development coordinator and adjunct professor, Faculty Development Center (FDC), and Madeleine Moku, office manager, Albuquerque Metropolitan Campus, N.M., share the Employee Spotlight honors for May 2012.

Elvir Mandzukic

Elvir Mandzukic‘s nominator says Elvir is a tireless and dedicated supporter of faculty development, who works long hours and is always willing to help faculty with research and class preparation, regardless of how busy he is.

The nominator describes Elvir’s mastery of technology and research techniques as cutting edge, and says his work doesn’t end when he leaves campus as he continues “proactive, helpful correspondence” with the FDC staff after hours.

“Above all, he is an extremely friendly, kind and helpful person whose goal is to help others reach their goals,” says the nominator. “He is an invaluable resource to FDC and Webster University.”

Elvir began working at Webster four years ago as instructional support specialist for the School of Education. In 2009, he joined the Faculty Development Center’s staff focusing on instructional and collaborative media in classrooms.

Elvir says he enjoys the daily opportunity he has to work with “the great minds of Webster University exploring teaching and learning in action,” and he appreciates being able to continue his previous work with international humanitarian organizations such as USAID, WHO and Solidates.

“I have had numerous opportunities to learn from different cultures about myself and others,” says Elvir. “Webster University is a plateau for international dialogue of all people propelled by the University mission for Global Citizenship in an ever-changing, diverse world of learning.

“It’s a honor to be recognized by my peers, colleagues and community.”

Elvir chose a day off with pay — “a day with my family” — as his prize.

Madeleine Moku

Madeleine Moku has been an exemplary employee at the Albuquerque Metro campus for 16 years. Recently though, she “stepped up her game” during a crucial week when her manager was called away from the office during the planning and organization for two upcoming major events: an open house and a promotion with the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce.

“Madeleine responded quickly to inquiries about the events and kept track of the promotion and open house attendees, which made for a very successful outcome,” says her nominator. “She took on these additional responsibilities and excelled!”

Like Elvir, Madeleine says she appreciates the good fortune of working with interesting, caring, dedicated and all-around great people at Webster. “They have made this job very special,” she says.

Madeleine truly enjoys hearing from students who have graduated, sometimes years later. “They have great things to say about their time at Webster and what having their degree has done for them.

“Through those conversations, I’ve realized how much our everyday work means in helping people make their dreams and aspirations become realities.”

Madeleine says it means a lot to know a co-worker nominated her for the Employee Spotlight Award.

She chose a day off with pay as her prize.
