"Shortbus"

The Webster University Film Series presents Shortbus as part of its Celluloid Couch series Friday, June 1, 7:30 p.m.

John Cameron Mitchell, the director of the explosive transgender rock musical, “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” broadens his investigation into sexuality with Shortbus (2006, USA, 101 min.).

Shortbus is an exploration into the lives of several characters living in present-day New York as they navigate the humorous and tragic intersections between love and sex.  Male, female, trans, straight, bisexual, lesbian and gay, the characters find one another – and eventually themselves when they all converge at a weekly underground salon called Shortbus, a wild collision of art, music, politics and polyamorous carnality.

Gary Hirshberg, MSW, LCSW, leads discussion.

Warning: This film contains explicit sexual scenes that may be offensive to some viewers.
