Baseball Faces Westminster in SLIAC First Round

Finishing in first place and winning its sixth straight St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title, the Webster University baseball team will host the 2012 SLIAC Tournament.

The Gorloks enter the tournament as the #1 seed after finishing at 20-4 in the conference.  Webster will face Westminster College in the first round at 2:00 p.m., on May 10, at Glik Park in Highland, Ill.

The Gorloks swept the regular season series with the Blue Jays, winning 4-0 and 12-2, at GCS Ball Park on March 28, and 4-2, in Fulton, Mo., on April 5. Westminster finished 11-13 in the SLIAC and 15-21 overall.  Fontbonne University and Greenville College (Ill.) face-off in the other first round contest, at 5 p.m.

As always, Webster University students with a valid I.D. will be admitted free.

Directions to Glik Park from Webster:  Take I-44 East, merge with I-55 North. Exit onto Poplar Street Bridge (I-55N/I-70N), stay on I-55N/I-70E for approximately 17 miles. Take Exit 17, US 40E toward St. Jacob/Highland, stay on US40 for 13.4 miles. Go left on Plaza Dr for one block…Plaza ends at entrance to Glik.

Game 1 – #1-Webster vs. #4-Westminster, 2 p.m.
Game 2 – #2-Fontbonne vs. #3-Greenville, 5 p.m.
Game 3 – Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2, 8 p.m.

Friday, May 11
Game 4 – Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2, 5 p.m.
Game 5 – Winner Game 3 vs. Loser Game 4, 8 p.m.

Saturday, May 12
Game 6 – Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 5
Game 7 – If necessary

Admission Fees
$5 for adults
$2 for students from SLIAC schools and children ages 5-16
FREE – Webster students with valid I.D.
FREE – Children under 5 years of age
