Reminder from Public Safety: Officers Wear Identification

| March 13, 2012

On Monday, March 12, two individuals in plain clothes approached a student, identified themselves as Public Safety Officers for Webster University, and struck up a conversation in an attempt to obtain personal information from her. The student asked for identification from the individuals, who then would not produce any and soon left.

This is just a reminder to all students, staff and faculty: Public Safety Officers for Webster University are dressed in a uniform with identification in plain sight identifying them as security officers. In those cases where a security officer is working in plain clothes, they must display their identification upon request.

If anyone has had a recent encounter with someone claiming to be a security or law enforcement officer whose actions you felt were suspicious or unusual, please contact the Public Safety at ext. 7430 or 6911.
